In-person Level One Focusing Class
Dates: Thursdays, July 18-August 15, 2024 from 5:30-8:30p each week
Location: The Movement Studio @ 2007 Chapel Hill Rd Durham NC 27707 (white house with pink triangle on the door)
Taught by Meg Stein

Focusing is a mind-body practice that connects us to our own natural ability to heal and move through difficulty. It deepens our connection with our own aliveness. It helps us move through big emotions, stuck feelings, and difficulties in our lives with authenticity and self-compassion. Focusing can also be an invaluable way to help you see and understand more of how you actually feel about something in your life. It is an emergent process that helps us explore the edge of our current understanding.

This five-week level one class will teach participants the beginning fundamentals of Inner-Relationship Focusing and the skills needed to begin practicing Focusing with a partner. (This class is the first of four levels. Generally speaking, after Level Two participants have enough information to create a sustainable Focusing practice with a partner who also knows how to Focus.)

Each week participants will learn new Focusing skills and will practice with a partner in the class. Outside of class requirements include a weekly partnering session with someone in the class (in person or over zoom) and some reading from the manual.

Participants should plan to attend all five classes.

Cost: Sliding scale from $200-$300 for the series + $20 for the manual. Participants who are able to pay the higher rate of $300 (+$20) are encouraged to do so to allow others to use the lower rates.

Payment plans are also available. To set up a payment plan, register using the $70 deposit + $20 manual option and then email meg@aliveandawarepractice.com to coordinate the rest.

For those who have already taken a Level One class and want to take this for a refresher, please email me for a discount code to use.

This class will be limited to 4-8 participants.

Pre-requisites: A Guided Focusing Session. If you have already done a Guided Focusing Session at some point with Meg or someone else, then you’re all set. If you have never done a Guided Focusing Session then you’ll need to set one up with Meg before the class begins. The reason is because experiencing a Guided Focusing Session helps give people a sense of where the class is headed and is an important part of learning how to Focus with a partner.

To schedule a discounted Guided Focusing Session with Meg, book here.

Covid Considerations: This class is in-person and indoors. Our hope is that we can all be unmasked. The reason is that facial expressions are an important part of connecting through Focusing. In the registration form we will ask you to answer a few questions about your comfort level with this.
